Bengaluru is likely to see a noticeable increase in rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light to moderate showers across
the city over the next five days.
The weather system developing over the Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen and influence rainfall activity across Karnataka. In Bengaluru, thunderstorms and lightning may accompany some spells of rain, while gusty winds could reach 30–40 kmph during showers.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain around 30–31 degree C, while minimum temperatures are likely to stay in the low 20s.

The IMD has also included Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural among the districts where isolated heavy rainfall is possible during the forecast period. A yellow alert has been issued for the two districts, along with several other parts of Karnataka.
The weather department has advised residents and local authorities to remain alert as rainfall activity is expected to increase.
Karnataka braces for showers
According to IMD scientist C S Patil, the state recorded only isolated light rain on September 18. However, conditions are expected to become wetter till September 24.
Most parts of north interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka and the coastal districts are likely to receive light to moderate, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during this period. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in several areas.
The districts covered by the yellow alert include Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu and Bengaluru Urban and Rural.
Isolated heavy rainfall is possible in these areas during the five-day period.
Karnataka is currently facing a rainfall deficit of around 26–27% for the season, according to Patil. The shortfall has raised concerns among farmers over crop conditions and water availability.
While the upcoming rain is not expected to completely make up for the deficit, the widespread showers could provide some relief by improving soil moisture and helping recharge reservoirs, particularly across south interior and coastal Karnataka.
The next several days are therefore expected to bring wetter conditions to Bengaluru as well as large parts of the state, with residents advised to prepare for sudden showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
