New Delhi: Despite not being at the centre of things in Indian cricket recently, Shubman Gill is ready to take the centre stage at the BCCI’s annual awards
in Mumbai on March 15. Not part of India’s T20I World Cup-winning squad, Gill is set to be named Cricketer of the Year at the BCCI annual gala.
Gill, India’s Test and ODI captain, is not part of the current T20I set-up. However, he enjoyed a sensational run in the other two formats.
The 25-year-old Punjab batter scored 983 runs in Tests, including an astonishing 754 in the drawn away series against England in 2025, at an amazing average of over 70.
In ODI cricket, he amassed 490 runs, including 188 during India’s title-winning Champions Trophy campaign in 2025.
Overall, Gill aggregated a whopping 1,764 runs across formats at an average of 49, studded with seven centuries and three fifties.
Although Gill’s form in international T20 cricket was well below expectations, he was in superb form during IPL 2025, scoring 650 runs for the Gujarat Titans at an average of 50.
Dravid to be honoured with Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award
The Board of Control for Cricket in India will also present the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award to former India head coach Rahul Dravid for his extraordinary contributions to Indian cricket.
Dravid is regarded as one of the greatest Indian batters of all time, Dravid scored an eye-watering 24, 208 runs (13288 in Tests and 10, 889) in international cricket across 509 matches.
After retiring as a player, Dravid made a massive contribution to Indian cricket as a coach. He was the head coach of the India U-19 team from 2015 to 2019.
The legendary cricketer guided the young boys to two straight Under-19 World Cup finals, including the title-winning campaign in 2018 in New Zealand. During his tenure as coach of the Boys in Blue, he developed several young players, including Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw.
As the head coach of the Indian team, he led them to the 2024 T20 World Cup title.
