New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory for commuters ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026, which will be held in the national capital
from September 11 to 13.
Traffic diversions and movement restrictions will be introduced across several important roads, particularly in and around the New Delhi district. The measures are aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of VIP convoys while reducing inconvenience for the public.
The advisory covers 22 diversion points and more than 35 controlled roads.

Commuters have been advised to avoid several roads during the summit period, including Mathura Road, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Tees January Marg, Shanti Path, Sardar Patel Marg, Kartavya Path, Safdarjung Road, Tilak Marg, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Road and Kautilya Marg.
Other affected stretches include Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Africa Avenue, C-Hexagon, Purana Quila Road, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, Akbar Road and Bhagwan Das Road.
Motorists have been asked to check diversions and traffic updates before beginning their journey.
Extra time for transit hubs
People travelling to airports, railway stations and the Inter-State Bus Terminus have been advised to leave early and factor in additional travel time.
For New Delhi Railway Station, alternative routes have been suggested through areas including Kashmiri Gate, Rani Jhansi Marg, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Place and Ring Road.
For Old Delhi Railway Station, commuters can use routes through Kashmiri Gate, Ring Road, Hanuman Mandir and SP Mukherjee Marg.
Metro travel recommended
The Traffic Police has strongly recommended using the Metro, particularly for journeys to the airport. Metro services are expected to continue operating without disruption.
Bus routes may be diverted during VIP movements, while taxis and three-wheelers will be required to use designated parking areas and may face temporary diversions.
Airport routes announced
Separate routes have been suggested for passengers travelling to Delhi airport from Gurugram, Dwarka, New Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi and northern and eastern parts of the capital.
Travellers have been advised to check the suggested routes before leaving, particularly if they have flights during periods of VIP movement.
Special access for emergencies
Emergency and medical vehicles will be given priority and obstruction-free access. Essential services and utility vehicles will also be allowed uninterrupted movement.
Non-destined commercial vehicles will not be permitted to enter Delhi during the summit period.
Parking rules tightened
The Traffic Police has asked motorists to park only in authorised spaces. Roadside parking within 200 metres of controlled roads will be strictly prohibited.
Commuters have also been asked to follow directions issued by traffic personnel and remain alert to security advisories.
People can report suspicious objects or activities to the nearest police official. For traffic assistance, the Delhi Traffic Police can be contacted on 1095 or 011-25844444. Emergency police assistance is available on 112.
The Traffic Police has urged the public to cooperate with the restrictions and follow official updates to ensure smooth movement and safety during the BRICS Summit.
