New Delhi: As Team India prepares to host New Zealand for a white-ball series, veteran player Rohit Sharma has started practicing hard for his next assignment.
Both Rohit and Virat Kohli would be next seen gracing the field in the three ODI matches starting from January 11 in Vadodara, which will precede the five T20I games.
Having retired from the other two formats and after impressing in the Australia and South Africa ODIs last year, both the veteran batters would be looking to deliver an impactful performance in the upcoming 50-over games against the Kiwis, in the run up to the ODI World Cup next year. On Tuesday, social media was flooded with videos and images of Rohit, who was seen sweating it hard ahead of the series opener on Sunday.
Apart from polishing his batting skills, the senior Indian cricketer was also seen involved in some fielding and catching drills, sharpening them with an aim of making overall impact in the upcoming 50-over games and proving his might for the 2027 50-over showpiece event. An image also caught the moment of Rohit being involved deeply in a conversation with India’s fielding coach T Dilip.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team’s ODI squad last week with Shubman Gill as the skipper and Shreyas Iyer as the vice-captain. Iyer makes a return to the national side after October 2025 as he was under rehabilitation post an injury during Australia ODIs. His participation in the 50-over matches is subject to him attaining fitness ahead of the fixtures.
