New Delhi: Swiggy has taken a fresh step into the fast growing world of AI-led commerce. The company says users can now order food, shop on Instamart,
and even book tables on Dineout directly from popular AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini.
The move comes as large language models become a daily tool for planning, searching, and decision making. Instead of opening multiple apps, users can now type a simple request inside an AI chat and complete the entire order journey in one place.
Swiggy plugs into AI chats with MCP
Swiggy announced that it has rolled out Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations across Swiggy Food, Instamart, and Dineout. MCP is an open-source framework that allows AI systems to connect securely with live services and data.
With this launch, Instamart becomes the first quick-commerce platform in the world to adopt MCP. Users can browse and order from more than 40,000 products using natural language prompts.
For example, a user can type, “Order ingredients needed for Thai green curry” or “Order a highly rated biryani I would love.” The AI agent then searches, compares options, builds the cart, applies offers, and places the order.
Reducing friction
Swiggy says the idea is to reduce friction in everyday ordering. Instead of jumping between screens, users only need to state their intent once.
Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Technology Officer, Swiggy, said, “India’s convenience needs are deeply contextual, shaped by everyday moments, family routines, personal preferences, and time constraints. Swiggy has always focused on solving for convenience at scale, and conversational commerce takes that a step further by allowing users to simply express what they want, when they want it.”
He added, “By bringing MCP to quick commerce, food delivery, and dining out, we’re removing friction from daily decisions and enabling a level of ease, personalisation, and joy that makes on-demand convenience feel effortless.”
What users can do through AI
The integration supports several everyday tasks, including
- Order groceries and daily essentials from Instamart
- Place food delivery orders from Swiggy Food
- Search restaurants and book tables via Dineout
- Apply coupons and track deliveries
Swiggy says this also opens the door for future use cases like meal planning, diet-based shopping, and occasion-specific orders.
How to connect Swiggy with ChatGPT or Claude
Users can link Swiggy services inside AI assistants by adding a custom connector.
