New Delhi: The Tata Punch EV has scored a perfect five-star safety rating in the latest 2026 Bharat NCAP crash tests. The compact EV SUV scored 31.09 out
of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45.00 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP). The trims tested for the electric SUV included the Adventure 40 and Empowered+ S 40.

Punch EV scored 31.09 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45.00 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP).
In the adult safety assessment, the Punch EV took an impressive 31.09/32 overall score. It scored 15.28 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier evaluation and 15.80 out of the total 16 possible in the side movable deformable barrier test. The SUV also achieved an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.
As per the crash-test assessment, the Punch EV provided Good protection for occupants. It was also noted that it provided adequate protection to a few body regions during the frontal and side impact tests.
Tata Punch EV COP rating
The Punch EV scored 45.00 out of 49 in the Child Occupant Protection assessment. It achieved all 24 points possible in the dynamic score. Punch EV was also evaluated a full 12 out of 12 for CRS installation. The vehicle assessment scored 9 out of 13 points.
For both the 18-month-old child and the 3-year-old child, BNCAP used the Joie i-Spin Safe child restraint system. Both child dummies scored the maximum 8 out of 8 in the frontal impact test and 4 out of 4 in the side impact test. The child seats were installed with an i-SIZE ISOFIX/LEG setup in a rearward-facing (RWF) position.
Tata Punch EV safety equipment
The tested trims are equipped with standard front airbags for the driver and passenger, side curtain airbags, side chest airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection, and seat belt reminders. ISOFIX child-seat mounts are there for the second-row outboard seats.
We have driven the Punch EV, and we found the ride and handling were excellent. We felt confident taking the car at high speeds, with the alert brakes giving us the extra confidence. The compact SUV gets ample safety equipment on board for the segment it occupies.
