New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar died after a chartered plane carrying him crashed in Baramati in Pune on Wednesday
morning. The aircraft crashed while it was attempting to make an emergency landing.
The DGCA confirmed that five people, including Pawar, were on board the ill-fated aircraft and that no person survived the crash. Among the others who died are two pilots and two passengers, including one attendant and Pawar’s personal security officer.
Meanwhile, rescue and police teams have rushed to the spot. Senior officials also reached the accident site. The state government has cancelled all its official engagements for today and prominent politicians and ministers have already left for Baramati to pay their tributes to Pawar.
