and a few high-profile disappointments. Leading the positive momentum is Jiiva’s latest release, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil box office collection
Directed by Nithish Sahadev, the film opened to healthy footfalls and has collected Rs 16.45 crore India net in its first five days. The weekend played a crucial role. Day 3 brought in Rs 5.3 crore, followed closely by Rs 5.15 crore on Day 4. The drop was minimal, which is always encouraging. Day 5, a Monday, saw the usual slowdown but still managed Rs 1.60 crore, taking the total to a solid Rs 16.45 crore.
Occupancy figures remained steady, with evening and night shows crossing 25 percent, pointing to positive word of mouth for this drama-comedy.
Anaganaga Oka Raju box office collection
In Telugu cinema, Anaganaga Oka Raju, starring Naveen Polishetty and Meenakshi Chaudhary, continues its impressive run. The rom-com, directed by Mahesh Babu P, has amassed Rs 36.45 crore India net by Day 6. Worldwide, the film stands at Rs 58.5 crore gross, with overseas numbers touching Rs 15.5 crore. Despite a weekday dip, the film’s low budget of around Rs 8 crore ensures it is already profitable and firmly eyeing blockbuster status.
Va Vaathiyaar box office collection
On the other end of the spectrum lies Va Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and starring Karthi. Despite high expectations, the film has failed to connect with audiences. According to Sacnilk, it earned just Rs 26 lakh on Day 6, bringing its total to Rs 7.96 crore. Poor reviews and weak word of mouth have clearly hurt its box office prospects.

Meanwhile, Parasakthi, featuring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Sudha Kongara, has posted a respectable Rs 49.45 crore in ten days. While weekday numbers dipped, the film remains close to the Rs 50 crore mark, supported by decent weekend growth.

However, the undisputed Sankranthi winner is Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, led by Chiranjeevi. The family entertainer crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide by Day 8, earning Rs 8 crore on its first Monday alone. Strong overseas numbers, especially from North America, and glowing word of mouth have positioned it as the season’s biggest blockbuster.
