New Delhi: Tata Motors has outlined several important launches planned for 2026, covering both petrol-powered models and electric vehicles. The line-up
includes a facelifted Tata Punch, the all-electric Sierra, and an all-new generation of the Nexon. However, most of them are going to launch with cosmetic upgrades aimed to give the vehicle a refreshed look so that the new version of the car looks different from the previous even though they may continue with the same powertrain.
It shows that Tata seems to be focusing on small but noticeable updates instead of major changes. Most of the 2026 models are expected to get new looks, better interiors and a few added features, while the engines are likely to stay the same. This helps Tata keep its cars feeling fresh without changing too much, and gives buyers updated models that match current design trends.
2026 Tata Punch facelift
The Tata Punch is set to receive a major update in early 2026. The design is expected to move closer to the Punch EV, especially at the front. A connected LED light bar, a revised bumper, new alloy wheel designs and changes at the rear are all likely. Inside, The Punch ICE already received the EV’s infotainment screen recently, but the facelift could go further. A fully digital instrument cluster and the two-spoke steering wheel seen on Tata’s newer EVs are expected, including ventilated front seats.
The Punch will continue to use the ALFA platform. The 1.2-litre petrol engine and the CNG option are expected to remain the same. Pricing for the updated Punch is likely to fall between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh.
2026 Tata Sierra EV
Tata has confirmed that the Sierra EV will be launched in the first quarter of 2026. It will sit alongside the petrol-powered Sierra, which has already been introduced in a front-wheel-drive layout. The electric Sierra will be built on Tata’s new Argos platform, which uses a skateboard-style structure, along with the ICE version. In terms of design, the overall shape and styling will stay close to the regular Sierra. However, the EV will have a different front end, including a closed-off grille to mark it out as an electric model.
Battery and motor specifications have not been officially announced yet. It may use the 55kWh battery from the Curvv EV or the larger 65kWh unit seen on the Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is expected to go on sale by March 2026, with prices estimated between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.
2026 next-generation Tata Nexon
Tata Motors is also developing the next-generation Nexon, internally known as “Garud”. The new Nexon is expected to arrive towards the end of 2026, with a possible spillover into early 2027.
The new model is expected to move to an all-new platform. Both the exterior and interior will be completely redesigned to match Tata’s latest styling direction. Under the bonnet, the 1.2-litre petrol engine and the CNG option are likely to continue. The future of the diesel engine is still unclear, mainly due to the high cost of updating it to meet the upcoming BS7 emission norms.
Initial production capacity has reportedly been set at 12,000 units per month, slightly lower than the current Nexon’s output. This number could increase after launch, depending on demand. The Nexon EV will also be updated in line with the new model, along with the expected price of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 17 lakh.
