the bank. In a viral Reddit post titled “I Built My Personal Air Purifier for 2000 INR,” the user detailed how they assembled a working DIY air purifier for just Rs 2,000, stunning the internet with their resourceful desi innovation.
While most people are scrolling through depressing AQI charts and coughing through November, this Redditor took matters into their own hands. They combined a 150mm exhaust fan worth Rs 750, a HEPA filter from Amazon for Rs 1,000 and basic supplies like cardboard and wiring costing Rs 150 to create what looks like a college science project but works shockingly well.

According to the creator, their homemade setup reduced the AQI in a 12×12 ft room from 380 to 50 in just 15 minutes, even on the fan’s lowest speed setting. That’s cleaner air than most branded purifiers costing Rs 15,000 or more. “It is working great, even better than the Philips one I have,” the user wrote, sparking admiration and envy online.
Reddit users flooded the post with applause and curiosity.
