New Delhi: The 27-year-old techie who was killed after his car entered a flooded pit in Noida Sector 150, reportedly died of a heart attack. The cause
of death, which might leave many people surprised, was revealed in a post mortem report made public on Monday. The accident happened early Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Yuvraj Mehta, who died shouting for help from inside his drowned car. He was reportedly inside the car for close to 90 minutes.
Victim had heart attack due to cold weather, fear: Experts
According to experts, Mehta might have suffered a heart attack due to extreme cold and fear. The man was trapped in icy cold water inside his car, for a long time. This might have caused the heart attack, said experts. Another reason could have been fear. As he realised that death in this situation was certain he experienced a heart attack, they added.
The techie called up his father and also texted him telling him about the tragedy that had befallen him. Though his father rushed to the accident site, within 15 minutes he could not do much to save his son. He alleged that though the fire brigade team reached the spot, they lacked proper equipment to pull the man out of the deep pit, even as the victim stood on the roof of his car. Yuvraj reportedly kept the flashlight of his phone switched on to tell rescuers about his position.
His father said that after his son was pulled out of the water, he immediately moved him to a hospital. But the man had reportedly died by then. His father was quoted by NDTV as saying, “We took him to the hospital but he was long gone by that time. I tried everything in my power to save him.”
A Flipkart delivery executive had also spotted Yuvraj inside the pit and called for help. He had also tried to save the man and entered the pit himself, but by then the victim had already died.
Complaint filed
A complaint has been filed in this regard at the Knowledge Park police station. The complaint has been filed under sections 105 (culpable homicide), 106 (causing death by negligence) and 125 (act endangering life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The man was driving a Grand Vitara and was returning home at around 12:30 am on Saturday, when the accident happened near the ATS Le Grandiose. His car hit a damaged boundary wall due to poor lighting and foggy weather. It landed straight into an excavation dug for a commercial project.
The victim hailed from Bihar’s Sitamarhi and was working at a firm in Gurugram.
