New Delhi: The weather in the Mumbai remains sticky, uncomfortable pre-monsoon heat with no immediate respite in sight. According to the India Meteorological
Department (IMD), moisture in the air is making conditions uncomfortable, especially in coastal parts of Maharashtra.
IMD has warned citizens that heavy coastal humidity continues to make ambient conditions feel significantly hotter than actual thermometer readings. The officials said the southwest monsoon is progressing normally but it is expected to reach Vidarbha only during the second week of June So till then, hot weather conditions are likely to continue in the region.
On Wednesday, the financial capital recorded partly cloudy skies throughout the day. The maximum temperature was around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 27 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai weather forecast today
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Mumbai and surrounding areas are likely to witness partly cloudy skies again on Thursday. The maximum temperature may rise to around 35 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels are expected to remain high, making the weather feel warmer than the actual temperature. Some areas may receive light rain or brief showers, but no major drop in temperature is expected for now.
Maharashtra weather update
The weather in Maharashtra has been changing continuously for the past few days, with some areas experiencing extreme heat while others are having trouble with heavy rains. The IMD has issued a yellow rain alert for Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, and nearby ghat regions.
A heatwave red alert has been issued for Akola, Amravati, and Wardha, while an orange alert is in place for Nagpur, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal.
Over the next few days, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of South Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra.
When will Mumbai get relief from the heat?
The residents eagerly waiting for respite from the sticky conditions will not have to wait much longer. According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Mumbai around June 5 or 6, provided weather conditions remain favourable.
While pre-monsoon showers are expected to bring temporary relief across parts of Maharashtra later this week, the financial capital will officially welcome the monsoon during the first week of June if the current forecast holds steady.
