Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Wednesday formally announced the distribution of portfolios in the newly constituted cabinet headed by Chief Minister
Suvendu Adhikari. The allocation sees Adhikari retaining control of several key departments while assigning major responsibilities to senior BJP leaders and new ministers.
According to a notification issued by the Home and Hill Affairs Department, Adhikari will continue as Minister-in-Charge of the Home and Hill Affairs Department, Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation, Power, Information and Cultural Affairs, as well as Personnel and Administrative Reforms. He will also oversee departments not specifically assigned to other ministers.

Among the notable appointments, former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta has been entrusted with the Finance Department. Senior BJP leader Tapas Ray has been given charge of the Industry, Commerce and Enterprises Department, along with the Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction Department and the Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources Department.
Jagannath Chattopadhyay has been assigned the Higher Education and Technical Education, Training and Skill Development Department. Dipak Barman will oversee School Education, Housing, and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles Department.
Meanwhile, Dr Shankar Ghosh has been appointed Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism, while Manoj Kumar Oraon will head the Forests and Environment Department.
