New Delhi: The probe report in the alleged Ram Temple donation theft is now out and it has made some shocking revelations. The report submitted to the Supreme
Court on Monday said that at least 105 instances of donation theft at the Ayodhya temple were caught on camera.
The Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, quoted the report of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the donation theft at the temple, while sharing details with the top court. He added that the investigation was nearing completion and a chargesheet would be filed by September 25.
The court then directed the magistrate to take action based on the chargesheet, as is appropriate under the provisions of the law, said a report in NDTV.
The Supreme Court reviewed the status report filed by the SIT, while hearing the case. During the hearing on the donation theft matter, the court was informed about the number of arrests made so far in the case and also about the evidence gathered by the team. Apart from this, the SIT also presented in court, some of the evidences it had gathered during the course of its investigation.
They also shared details regarding CCTV footage, witness statements and several other pieces of evidence in court.
According to the status report, the investigators analysed CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the accused persons. The SC in turn put all available information on record.
105 instances of donation theft caught on CCTV
The SIT report stated that in total 105 instances of donation theft were caught on CCTV. The team also said that the receipt of valuables are generated using software and are currently stored safely in a State Bank of India (SBI) locker.
On Monday, during the court proceedings, the petitioners demanded a copy of the SIT probe report. But the court declined the request. The bench led by the Chief Justice of India, said that it did not want to take the matter out of the hands of the Session’s judge and would pass an order only if it deemed further investigations necessary.
Notably two top officials of the Ram Mandir trust, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra were removed from their post after the alleged donation embezzlement came to light, earlier this year. Moreover, a CEO was also appointed to the trust. The first CEO being former military officer Jitendra Mishra.
While taking charge Mishra had said that changes would be brought about in the system, with several improvements being made over the past one.
A 3-member SIT, led by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, was constituted by the state on June 13. Later the Supreme Court also intervened in the matter. An initial probe report was submitted to the state government by the SIT on June 23, wherein it made several stringent recommendations.
The FIR in the case named Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu and also an unidentified person. All of them have been booked under Section 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have been arrested.
