Mumbai: Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is soon to be released in Japan, two years after the original release. The makers of the Ranbir Kapoor
movie took to social media to announce the release of the movie in February 2026.
“Kono otoko wa Darenimo Tomerarenai🔥The most talked-about, debated, and unforgettable cinematic experience is coming to Japan,” said Bhadrakali Films, one of the producers of Animal, on X. It further stated, “Animal releases in Japanese theatres on February 13, 2026.”
The much-talked-about movie was released in December 2023. The film was a massive hit. It earned Rs 553 crore net in India and Rs 915 crore gross worldwide. The movie became the 9th-highest-grossing Indian film ever. With the release of the movie in Japan, the makers of the film hope to reach the Rs 1000-crore mark. Meanwhile, the Aditya Dhar movie Dhurandhar is expected to reach the Rs 1000 crore mark soon.

Meanwhile, Animal’s release had faced backlash. Commenting on the backlash, Ranbir stated, “Social media played havoc. They needed something to talk about, so they really went to town claiming it was a misogynistic film. What happens is that the hard work that you put in… I know the director had made Kabir Singh, which also faced the same thing, the hard work gets diminished. Because it gets this tag, which isn’t true, the perception stayed with this film. So, the general public will speak very fondly about the film, but there are many people I meet who tell me, ‘You shouldn’t have done this film, we are so disappointed in you’. And a lot of people from the film industry (said the same thing). I quietly apologise and say, ‘Sorry I won’t do it next time.’ I don’t really agree with them, but I am in that phase of my life I don’t argue with anyone. If you don’t like my work, I will say I am sorry I will try harder next time.”
