Mumbai: Mumbai will continue to experience hot and humid weather over the coming days, with partly to mostly sunny skies and very high discomfort levels,
according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and other weather agencies.
Today, the daytimemaximum temperatures are likely to reach 35-36°C, while minimum temperatures will stay around 27-28°C. The weather will remain hot and humid with high humidity levels (65-70% or more), making the ‘feels-like’ temperature much higher. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with only a low chance of any rain.
Forecast for next few days
For the upcoming days, similar hot and humid conditions are expected to continue. Daytime highs will hover between 35-37°C, with warm nights around 27-29°C. The atmosphere will stay mostly dry with plenty of sunshine during the day and partly cloudy conditions at times. Isolated light rain or thundershowers cannot be ruled out later in the week in some pockets, but most parts of Mumbai are likely to remain dry. Hot and humid conditions may be felt more intensely in isolated areas.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity will increase the risk of heat stress. Outdoor workers, senior citizens, and children are advised to take extra precautions during peak afternoon hours (11 am to 4 pm).
Advisory for residents
Residents should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, avoid direct sun exposure, wear light and loose cotton clothes, and use umbrellas, caps, or sunglasses when stepping out. Keep rooms well-ventilated or use fans and coolers for comfort.
IMD has forecast above-normal rainfall for the country in May overall, but Mumbai is likely to see mostly dry and hot weather in the immediate coming days with occasional pre-monsoon activity possible later. People are requested to follow the latest updates from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, for any changes or thunderstorm-related warnings.
