LPG cylinders has been raised while the oil marketing companies have spared the domestic LPG cylinder prices this time. The price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders have gone up by Rs 9.50 which has become effective across the country.
Price of commercial LPG cylinders in major cities
According to Indian Oil, from September 1, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in the capital of New Delhi has gone up by Rs 9.50 to reach Rs 2747.50. The price of the commercial LPG cylinder in Mumbai stood at Rs 2,691.50. In this case too, the price rise was by Rs 9.50.
Price of other cylinders
The prices of 5 kg and 10 kg cooking gas cylinders have also remained unchanged. A standard 5 kg small LPG cylinder is currently available at Rs 349.50, while the price of an XTRALITE cylinder was unchanged at Rs 339. However, the price of a 5 kg non-domestic gas cylinder has increased from Rs 762 to Rs 764.
Eateries to be impacted
The increase in commercial cooking gas cylinder prices will directly impact eateries and small businesses, cloud kitchen etc. Hotel and restaurant owners could pass on the rising cost of fuel to the consumers who will bear the price rise eventually. This could also lead to higher food prices.
Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum revise LPG prices on the first of every month. Gas prices are determined based on international crude oil prices and the value of the rupee. Therefore, LPG cylinder prices can change every month.
LPG is primarily a blend of propane and butane and the gas is liquified under moderate pressure for storage and transport. India imports about 60-65% of its total LPG requirements.
