Love & War release details: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated period romance Love & War has not been pushed to 2027, contrary to fresh reports that
sparked confusion on Monday morning. A source close to the production has clarified that the film remains firmly on track for a 2026 release and that speculation about a further delay is inaccurate.
The buzz began after a Pinkvilla report claimed that Love & War had suffered major filming delays and would now arrive only in 2027. The report suggested that a large portion of the shoot was still pending and that extensive VFX and post-production work, especially for aerial action sequences, had made a 2026 release unlikely. However, insiders associated with the project have firmly dismissed these claims.
Love & War is slated for 2026 release
According to a source speaking to News9Live, the film has not been postponed to next year. “The film is very much set to release in 2026,” the source said, adding that the shoot is progressing as planned. Most of the major sequences have already been completed, and the team recently wrapped a song shoot. While no official release date has been locked yet, the production remains on schedule.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Love & War brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The film marks a rare collaboration between the three stars and is positioned as an epic love triangle set against the backdrop of war. Ranbir and Vicky reportedly play Indian Air Force officers, while leaked visuals from the sets point to a 1960s setting. Plot details remain tightly guarded.
The film was initially slated for a 2025 release before being pushed to 2026, which likely added fuel to the latest round of rumours. There has also been chatter about a possible Eid release in March 2026, but sources say that date is still speculative and not officially confirmed.
On the work front: Ranbir, Alia and Vicky
Beyond Love & War, the cast has a packed year ahead. Alia Bhatt is gearing up for her appearance in Alpha, where she stars alongside Sharvari and Bobby Deol. Ranbir Kapoor will headline Ramayana Part One, playing Lord Rama in the big-budget mythological epic slated for a Diwali release. Vicky Kaushal, meanwhile, has Love & War as his sole confirmed release for the year.
