New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday reacted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), naming his son in the probe related to the Disha Salian’s death case. Salian was actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager and was found dead just days before his death.
Talking to newspersons in Sambhajinagar, Thackeray said that the case was politically motivated and that he and his son, Aaditya Thackeray had nothing to do with it.
Name Trump and PM Modi too: Thackeray reacts sarcastically
Thackeray described the death of Salian as “tragic” but claimed that neither he nor his son, Aaditya had anything to do with it. He said, “The case is completely politically motivated. Tomorrow even your names can be dragged into it”, he told reporters.
Then he sarcastically remarked that even US President Donald Trump’s name could be dragged into the probe in future. He said, “Why don’t you drag PM Modi and Trump’s name into this as well?”
The former CM of Maharashtra then went on to warn the probe agency, CBI and said that it must refrain from doing “character assassination”. He threatened legal action also.
NDTV quoted him as saying, “Conduct your probe, but do not indulge in character assassination. We will be forced to take legal action if this continues. We never met (Disha Salian) and we have absolutely no connection to this.”
Even Aadsitya Thackeray has denied knowing Disha Salian. He made a post online on Wednesday, wherein he said that linking him to the death of the woman was a “deliberate, evidence-free attempt at character assassination by a few individuals with clear political and personal motives.”
Disha Salian’s father’s notice to Aaditya Thackeray:
Meanwhile, Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian has sent a legal notice to Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh, claiming Rs 500 crore in damages, for portraying the case as “politically motivated.”
Salian was found dead on June 8, 2020. She reportedly fell from the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead, just 6 days later. She was his manager. Rajput was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his house.
The police had filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in Salian’s death. The CBI took over the probe into the death, following a Supreme Court order. The court ordered a CBI probe on a plea by Salian’s father. The CBI in its complaint added allegations of murder, gang rape, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence, and providing false information.
The CBI FIR named Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea and former girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty. The complaint alleged that Uddhav Thackeray and other powerful people used public machinery and money power to shield the offenders.
Apart from the Thackeray’s, the others named in the complaint have also denied having any role in the probe.
