New Delhi: The first TVK-led government officially took charge today as Joseph Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister, alongside a nine-member cabinet whose
portfolio allocations signal the party’s immediate governance priorities for Tamil Nadu.
The initial cabinet reflects Vijay‘s attempt to inculcate political balance, youth representation, caste equations and technocrats as per the state’s dynamics. He awarded all the core team members of his team who stood by him from the very start.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath administered the oath of office and secrecy in a colourful ceremony held at the Nehru Stadium. TVK cadres were continuously whistling while Vijay and his cabinet took oath in the presence of top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
KA Sengottaiyan
Among the prominent faces who took the oath in Chennai is veteran leader KA Sengottaiyan, who joined the TVK after being expelled from the AIADMK for openly questioning the EPS leadership. He has worked with former chief ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa for decades, so his addition signals an attempt to bring administrative experience to the cabinet.
Aadhav Arjuna
Adhav Arjuna is another key addition to the cabinet as he is considered one of the most trusted strategists and part of Vijay’s inner circle. He has planned an important role in TVK’s organisational planning and won from Chennai’s Villivakkam constituency.
Nirmal Kumar
Another key induction is of Nirmal Kumar who won from the Thirupparankundram constituency. He is widely regarded as the architect of the party’s digital and social media strategy. Kumar’s induction into the cabinet underscores Vijay’s focus on tech-driven governance as he brings his experience with IT wings of both the BJP and the AIADMK.
N. Anand
N. Anand is popularly known as Bussy Anand and is the General Secretary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He is well known for his strong grassroots network and has won from Chennai’s T Nagar constituency. He has been instrumental in expanding the party structure at the booth level, transforming emotional fans into a disciplined political machine.
Raj Mohan
Vijay is not the only one from his profession; another one is Raj Mohan, who has been sworn in as part of Vijay’s first cabinet. He is an actor who works on social media and Tamil movies. He is TVK’s propaganda secretary and is known for his motivational speeches in Tamil.
Dr TK Prabhu
Another key addition is Dr. T.K. Prabhu, a dentist-turned-politician who secured a significant victory in the Karaikudi constituency. A highly qualified professional with advanced degrees from Goethe University in Germany his induction reflects Vijay’s strategy of integrating global academic exposure and first-generation professional success into the state’s governance.
Arun Rai
Arun Raj is a doctor who quit his IRS career to join Vijay’s TVK. He entered the cabinet after winning from Tiruchengode constituency.
P Venkataramanan
P Venkataramanan is being projected as an important Brahmin face in the government. He won from Chennai’s Mylapore constituency, defeating the incumbent DMK candidate. As the long-standing Treasurer of the TVK and a practising advocate, he is one of Vijay’s most trusted lieutenants and a key legal mind within the party.
S Keerthana
The youngest face in Vijay’s cabinet is S Keerthana, who secured a historic win from the Sivakasi constituency in the Virudhunagar district. A 29-year-old post-graduate and former political consultant, she made history as the first-ever woman MLA from the ‘fireworks capital.’ She ended seven decades of male-only representation and signalled a new era for women’s leadership within the TVK.
