New Delhi: Rajinikanth’s latest release, Jailer 2, has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in India’s gross box office collections within 15 days of its theatrical
release. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action drama has also moved past the worldwide lifetime earnings of the superstar’s 2025 film Coolie, taking its global gross to Rs 765.15 crore.
Released on October 15, the sequel arrived in cinemas with considerable expectations following the success of the 2023 original. Its performance across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada markets has helped it maintain a strong position at the box office during its second week.
Jailer 2 box office collection on Day 15
According to Sacnilk, Jailer 2 earned Rs 5.90 crore net across 10,313 shows in India on its 15th day. The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor, collecting Rs 3.20 crore from 4,462 shows.
The Telugu release added Rs 1.40 crore through 1,665 shows, while the Hindi version brought in Rs 1.10 crore from 3,972 shows. The Kannada version contributed another Rs 20 lakh from 214 shows.
Following these collections, the film’s domestic gross reached Rs 502.65 crore, with its India net earnings standing at Rs 429.55 crore.
The film’s overseas performance has further strengthened its worldwide total. It collected Rs 2 crore internationally on Day 15, taking its cumulative overseas gross to Rs 262.50 crore. With domestic and overseas earnings combined, the film’s worldwide gross now stands at Rs 765.15 crore. It also registered 479,990 admissions on the same day.
Jailer 2 vs Coolie: Rajinikanth’s sequel moves ahead
The box office comparison between Jailer 2 and Coolie has further highlighted the difference in their theatrical performances. While the latter collected Rs 2.40 crore net in India on its 15th day, Jailer 2 earned Rs 5.90 crore on the corresponding day.
During its Day 15 run, Coolie recorded Rs 1.25 crore from Tamil shows, Rs 60 lakh from Hindi screenings, Rs 50 lakh from Telugu shows and Rs 5 lakh from Kannada screenings.
The film eventually finished its domestic run with Rs 271.50 crore in net collections and Rs 317.23 crore in gross earnings. Its overseas gross stood at Rs 176.25 crore, taking its worldwide total to Rs 493.48 crore.
In contrast, Jailer 2 has already surpassed that worldwide figure within 15 days of its release. Its current global gross of Rs 765.15 crore puts it ahead of Coolie’s reported lifetime earnings.
Jailer 2: Cast, director and production details
Nelson Dilipkumar has returned to direct the sequel, which is backed by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. The film continues the story of Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the character introduced in the first instalment released in 2023.
AlongsideRajinikanth, the returning cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik. The sequel has also expanded its ensemble with the addition of SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan.
With its domestic gross already beyond Rs 500 crore and worldwide earnings continuing to grow, Jailer 2 has established a substantial box office lead over Rajinikanth’s previous release, Coolie.
