Dehradun: The Char Dham Yatra, one of Uttarakhand’s most important pilgrimages, is set to begin on April 19, 2026. Ahead of the opening of the shrines,
offline registration for pilgrims will start on April 17 at the Rishikesh Transit Camp.
To ensure smooth registration, around 30 employees will be deployed at different locations. They will use handheld devices and mobile phones to register pilgrims quickly. Staff recruitment and training are already underway to prepare for the large number of devotees expected this year.
Offline Registration Arrangements
Premananda, in-charge of passenger registration at the transit camp, said that pilgrims will be registered in two shifts at 12 counters each, set up at two different places in the camp. In addition, six counters will be available at the ISBT complex, while four counters will be set up at the Gurudwara complex on Laxmanjhula Road.
Improved Facilities for Pilgrims
Last year, pilgrims faced difficulties due to limited lines at counters. This time, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council has installed 12 angled lines in front of the counters, replacing the earlier eight. According to PP Nautiyal, Executive Officer of Char Dham Yatra Administration, this change will help manage queues better and reduce inconvenience for pilgrims.
Record Registrations
So far, 10 lakh pilgrims have registered for the Char Dham Yatra online. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam’s rest houses have already received advance bookings worth Rs 5 crore, showing the high demand for accommodation during the pilgrimage season.
Government’s Assurance
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that it is the government’s responsibility to provide darshan to devotees coming from across the country and the world. He assured that every effort is being made to ensure that pilgrims face no inconvenience during the yatra.
Opening Dates of Shrines
The doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri will open on April 19, followed by Kedarnath on April 22 and Badrinath on April 23. With lakhs of devotees expected, the administration is focusing on crowd management, safety, and smooth registration processes.
