New Delhi: Air Force One with US President Donald Trump onboard made a U-turn after developing a “minor electric issue” on Tuesday. The designated aircraft
returned to Washington shortly after take-off. The incident took place when Trump was on its wat to Davos for the World Economic Forum.
“After takeoff, the AF1 crew identified a minor electrical issue. Out of an abundance of caution, AF1 is returning to Joint Base Andrews. The President and team will board a different aircraft and continue on to Switzerland,” an official message read.
The White House Rapid Response team confirmed on social media that the issue had been identified mid-flight. “Out of an abundance of caution, AF1 is returning to Joint Base Andrews. The President and team will board a different aircraft and continue on to Switzerland,” the post said.
The aircraft returned to Joint Base Andrews around 11 pm.

The US President was heading to Davos where he was was scheduled to meet several global leaders in and had earlier described the Switzerland visit as an “interesting trip.” “I have no idea what’s going to happen, but you are well represented,” he said before departure.
