New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday said that he and his foundation will go ahead with the planned protests at Delhi’s
Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10, despite the Delhi Police categorically saying that no permission had been granted for the agitation.
Speaking to a news agency in Mumbai, Dipke said, “Humara andolan ho kar rahega. (Our protest will definitely happen). Jantar Mantar is a designated protest site; Article 19 gives the fundamental right to protest. So, what is the need to get permission?”
Attacking the government and the Election Commission over the SIR exercise, he said, “Did they take permission before deleting 13 crore votes? You want that we should not agitate against those who are rigging elections? This cannot be possible. The country cannot run like this. To save the nation, we will protest.”
His statement came hours after he put out a social media post on ‘X’, alleging that thousands of youth across India were being detained so that they are not able to take part in the CJP protest in Delhi. He wrote on ‘X’, “Thousands of youngsters have been detained across country by the BJP Govt ahead of our October 10 protest. This intimidation is not going to work, Modi. The youth of this country are no longer scared of you.”

He talked about his arrival in Delhi on Saturday and said that after landing in the national capital he would march to Jantar Mantar “come what may.”
The protests in Delhi have been called against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The Opposition and the CJP are demanding that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar resign over the issue. The demands for his resignation intensified after a news report in a prominent daily claimed that the 2 other Election Commissioners did not agree with carrying out the SIR exercise and had raised objections to it during an internal meeting. Still the CEC went ahead with the exercise.
However, the Election Commission has clarified that the decision was unanimous and there were no differences between the 3 officials.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police is bracing for Saturday’s protest in Delhi. They have appealed to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to shut as many as 57 metro stations across the city. This they said was a measure to prevent unruly crowds from gathering at sensitive places.
Apart from this, several Mail and Express trains will not be reaching New Delhi and Nizamuddin Railway stations between 4 am to 2 pm on October 10. The Railways issued a notice in this regard, saying that this was to prevent congestion in and around the area.
