out the closure of the Strait of Hormuz once again. But Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd or BPCL has rolled out precisely that service. It is a new premium LPG service and is called Bharatgas Lite ZIP. This will offer the convenience of instant new connection along with express delivery. The company has currently launched it in Mumbai and plans to launch it in 100 additional cities across 24 states by August 15, 2026. The new service has been tailored keeping in mind the current lifestyle.
Speciality of Bharatgas Lite ZIP
The Bharatgas Lite ZIP’s most significant feature is its Bharatgas Lite composite cylinder. It’s significantly lighter than traditional steel cylinders, making it easier to lift and transport. Furthermore, it’s corrosion-free, meaning it won’t rust. The cylinder also features a visible gas-level indicator, allowing customers to easily see how much gas is left in the cylinder. The company claims that it also offers additional safety features and a modern design, making it a better choice for premium customers.
Expansion to 100 cities
According to reports, BPCL stated that this service has currently been launched in Mumbai. It will then expand to 100 more cities across 24 states by August 15. The company believes this will enable more families to benefit from fast and convenient LPG service.
Increased competition in the premium LPG segment
BPCL’s announcement comes just days after Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd or HPCL partnered with Swiggy Instamart to launch on-demand LPG cylinder delivery through the quick commerce platform. This service began in Bengaluru, where customers are being provided with a 10-kilogram composite cylinder called the HP Navya.
The unique feature of this HPCL service is that customers can order a new cylinder without an existing domestic LPG connection. This feature is specifically targeted towards students, working professionals, and small families.
Rising competition
Following the launch of BPCL’s Bharatgas Lite ZIP, all three state-owned oil marketing companies are now working to strengthen their presence in the premium and fast-delivery LPG segment. Through features like composite cylinders, digital booking, and faster delivery, the companies are striving to provide a better customer experience. Experts think that the scope of quick commerce and premium LPG services may expand rapidly in the future.
