New Delhi: Ravi Bishnoi got the prize scalp of Virat Kohli in Match 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Sent into bat, RCB made a rapid start despite losing Phil Salt (0) in the first over as Devdutt Padikkal and Kohli put the pressure back on the Royals with a flurry of boundaries.
The left-hand, right-hand combination stitched a brisk 45-run stand off just 17 balls to set a solid platform for the Challengers. However, the pair couldn’t stretch their partnership as Padikkal’s stay was cut short by a brilliant catch by Shimron Hetmyer. Archer did the damage once again with his pace and bounce.
RR skipper Riyan Parag went for an offensive move and introduced Ravi Bishnoi, the leading wicket-taker of IPL 2026, in the fifth over and his bold move paid off.

Bishnoi made an immediate impact and dismissed Kohli with a straighter one. Going for a big shot over extra over, Kohli was undone by the lack of turn as the ball rattled into the stumps, as RCB lost their third wicket in the powerplay.

Kohli made 32 off 16 balls with the help of seven fours and fell 18 short of his second fifty of the campaign.
Bishnoi did more damage in his second over by dismissing Krunal Pandya for 1 (6b). The former Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder failed to time a lofted shot and was caught brilliantly by Hetmyer, who bagged his second sensational catch of the match.
Bishnoi consolidates top spot in IPL 2026 bowling charts
Two wickets in his first two overs helped Bishnoi consolidate his spot at the top of the Purple Cap standings with his ninth wicket of the campaign.
Earlier, RCB welcomed Josh Hazlewood back into the team for the first time this season as rain delayed the start of the much-awaited clash in Guwahati.
RR and RCB are two of the only three teams yet to lose a game in IPL 2026.
