Washington: Amid tensions in the Middle-East, US President Donald Trump on Monday said that both Israel and Palestine are looking for an immediate ceasefire”
and that final negotiations are going on in the region for peace. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the blockade will remain in full force until a final agreement is reached. The President expressed confidence that things should move quickly.
“Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE! Final negotiations on “Peace” are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way. The Blockade will remain in place and in full force and effect until a “Final Deal” is reached. Things should move quickly”, Trump wrote on X.
Trump asks Israel not to retaliate against Iran’s missile attack
Earlier, he also asked Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to retaliate after Iran’s latest attacks with missiles on the country. He pointed out that retaliation may jeopardise the ongoing negotiations for a peace agreement in the region.
Trump, earlier in the day, betrayed the idea of a US war with Iran this year, betraying his refrain of “No new wars,” which he had said during his campaigns for the White House. During his interaction with the media, Trump said he did not make any guarantee that there would be no wars if he returned as the US President. “First of all, I didn’t guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” he was quoted as saying.

He also defended the scrapping of the $1.8 billion fund, which could have compensated allies of the Republican president. Trump further repeated his claims of mass fraud in California’s vote count from Tuesday’s primary. He then ended the interview abruptly after getting frustrated with questions from NBC’s Kristen Welker.
