New Delhi: October 2026 will bring several bank holidays across India, driven by national occasions, religious festivals and regular weekend closures.
While October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) is a nationwide bank holiday, several other dates apply only to specific states.
Customers should note that bank holidays can vary by state because the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar includes regional festivals. Physical branches may therefore remain closed even when banks continue to provide digital services.

Scheduled and non-scheduled banks generally observe holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Other Saturdays are normally working days unless a state-specific festival holiday applies.
Digital banking services remain vailable
Even when bank branches are closed, customers can generally use internet banking, mobile banking, UPI, ATMs and other digital channels for routine transactions. However, services requiring physical branch assistance may need to wait until the next working day.
