Thai nationals planning a trip to India can now apply for a 30-day e-Tourist visa without paying a visa fee. The Embassy of India in Bangkok announced
the new arrangement, which also allows double entry during the visa period.
The facility will remain available until December 31, 2027, or until the Indian government issues further orders. The move applies specifically to the 30-day e-Tourist visa category and is aimed at making short visits to India easier for travellers from Thailand.

What the new India e-Tourist visa offers Thai nationals
Under the arrangement, eligible Thai passport holders can apply for a 30-day e-Tourist visa free of cost.
The visa comes with double-entry permission. This means a traveller can enter India, leave the country and return once again within the validity conditions of the visa.
The Indian Embassy in Bangkok announced the measure through a press release shared on its official X account.
How Thai travellers can apply
Applications have to be submitted through India’s official e-Visa portal.
Travellers should use the official government website and complete the required application process there. Under the newly announced arrangement, no visa fee will be charged for the eligible 30-day e-Tourist visa.
The free visa facility is scheduled to remain in place until the end of 2027, unless the government changes the arrangement earlier.
Why India has introduced the free visa facility
The decision comes as India seeks to increase travel and people-to-people exchanges with Southeast Asian countries.
Thailand is already a major tourism destination for Indian travellers, and easier visa access for Thai visitors could support more two-way travel between the countries.
The new arrangement does not mean visa-free entry into India. Thai nationals will still need to apply for and receive an e-Tourist visa before travelling.
For travellers, the main change is straightforward. The eligible 30-day visa now carries no fee and permits two entries into India during the approved period.
