New Delhi: The national capital will witness clear skies and rising temperatures today (April 14, 2026), as per the latest weather update of India Meteorological
Department (IMD).
Delhi weather today
The maximum temperature in the city is expected to hover between 37 degrees C and 39 degrees C, while the minimum may range from 18 degrees C to 20 degrees C. Winds will blow from the west at 10–15 kmph during the morning (0530–1130 IST), shifting to northwest at 15–20 kmph in the afternoon (1130–1730 IST), and turning northerly at 10–15 kmph in the evening (1730–2330 IST). Overall, the weather is likely to remain mainly clear throughout the day.
According to the broader forecast, temperatures across northwest India are expected to rise gradually by 4–6 degrees C over the next seven days, indicating a steady warming trend in the region.
Delhi AQI today
Air quality in Delhi remained in the moderate category, with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recording an AQI of 156 at 7 am.
The Central Pollution Control Board classifies AQI into six categories: Good (0–50) with minimal impact, Satisfactory (51–100) with minor discomfort, Moderate (101–200) affecting sensitive groups, Poor (201–300) causing breathing issues, Very Poor (301–400) leading to respiratory illness, and Severe (401–500), which impacts even healthy individuals.
Weather in northwest India
The highest maximum temperature recorded in the plains was 38.9 degrees C at Prayagraj.
Weather activity across northwest India remained limited. Rain and snowfall were reported at isolated places in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh. The rest of the northwest region remained largely dry. Gusty winds were observed at isolated locations over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
On April 20 to April 22, there are chances of isolated precipitation over the Western Himalayan region, while most parts of northwest India are likely to continue experiencing dry weather conditions.
