New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he strongly
criticised terrorism and its alleged use across borders. In remarks directed at the broader issue, Jaishankar said governments involved in such practices must be held accountable.
Jaishankar stressed that India would maintain its zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and would continue to exercise its right to defend itself against terrorist threats. His remarks came amid continued tensions between India and Pakistan over terrorism and security concerns.
Calling terrorism a persistent threat to global peace, the External Affairs Minister warned that state-sponsored, cross-border terrorism posed a challenge to the international order. He also stressed the need to target the financial networks supporting terrorism.
