Mumbai: In a better experience for train travellers, Swiggy on Thursday announced that it has expanded its ‘Food on Train’ service to 152 stations across
India in 12-month period. In collaboration with IRCTC, the food delivery and quick commerce firm, provides its services on trains.
A year ago, Swiggy used to offer its food services from 70 stations. However, with a rising nation-wide demand for diverse culinary options, it has expanded to 152 in a year.
The food delivery and quick commerce company also divulged its plans lay emphasis on diversity. The plan is to offer food services at major Railway junctions as well regional stations like Itarsi (Madhya Pradesh), Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu) and Kharagpur (West Bengal).
Swiggy has recorded a 117 per cent growth in network expansion in the last one year. It expanded its network from 70 stations in February 2025 to 152 stations as of February 2026.
Swiggy ‘Food on Train’ service: Holi Special Food
Swiggy will be offering Holi special food menu for train travellers from February 28 to March 8. It has also expanded its ‘Train Friendly Dishes’ menu.
“This nationwide expansion is perfectly timed for the Holi travel rush. We will be focusing on diversity by doubling down on transit hubs across India, from major junctions to regional stops like Itarsi, Tirunelveli, and Kharagpur,” said Deepak Maloo, Vice President for food strategy, customer experience and new initiatives at Swiggy.
Swiggy and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) had signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deliver pre-ordered food on trains in March 2024. In the first phase, the food delivery app started with deliveries on stations of Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar.
