New Delhi: As Bugatti moves into a new era with the V16-powered Tourbillon, the French manufacturer is also preserving some of its most remarkable creations
from the past. The company has completed the restoration of a unique Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. It returns the one-off roadster to its original configuration more than a decade after it was built.
Bugatti restored its Molsheim headquarters in France under its La Maison Pur Sang certification and heritage programme.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse exterior elements
What makes this particular Veyron unusual is its exposed polished aluminium bodywork. Rather than going for a conventional paint, Bugatti has used carefully finished metal surfaces to create a mirror-like appearance that highlights the hypercar’s distinctive proportions.
As per Bugatti, developing the original bodywork required aluminium blocks weighing as much as 20 tonnes to be transported to its Molsheim facility. The design underwent extensive studies to understand how light would interact with the vehicle’s curves and surfaces.

The exterior is complemented by a Carmine Red leather interior, along with exposed carbon fibre and several handcrafted details. Bugatti also documented the original manufacturing process to preserve the history and authenticity of the one-off vehicle.
More than a decade after its original construction, chassis 8.100 returned to Bugatti’s Molsheim facility for a comprehensive restoration.
The manufacturer’s specialists inspected the vehicle, refurbished various components and removed personalisation elements that had been introduced after its initial delivery. The objective was to return the Veyron to its original specification while preserving its historical significance.
Following the restoration, the hypercar received La Maison Pur Sang certification, which verifies the authenticity and provenance of historic Bugatti vehicles. The restored Veyron has since been delivered to a new owner’s collection on the French Riviera.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse: Powertrain
The Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is powered by Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-litre, quad-turbocharged W16 engine. The model once held the record for the world’s fastest open-top production car, achieving a top speed of 408.84 kph in 2013. However, Bugatti subsequently surpassed that achievement with the Chiron-based W16 Mistral, which reached 453.91 kph in 2024.
Bugatti made just 450 examples of the Veyron across its various versions. That makes the individual cars particularly desirable among collectors. With the restoration of chassis 8.100, Bugatti continues to preserve its W16-powered heritage even as the company prepares to introduce a new generation of hypercars led by the Tourbillon.
