What is the story about?
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday, January 13, unveiled the official logo and website for BRICS 2026, as India prepares to assume the chair of the multilateral grouping next year, when the forum completes 20 years.
The launch comes amid New Delhi’s push to deepen engagement and cooperation among BRICS members ahead of its presidency. India will chair the bloc in 2026.
BRICS was originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and has since expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Indonesia as full members.
According to officials, the newly unveiled BRICS logo draws inspiration from the lotus, symbolising India’s civilisational roots and resilience. The petals incorporate the colours of BRICS nations, reflecting unity in diversity, while the central ‘Namaste’ motif represents respect, inclusivity and cooperation.
The emblem is accompanied by the tagline, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” highlighting a people-centric and collaborative vision for India’s chairmanship.
The dedicated BRICS 2026 website is expected to serve as a central hub for information on initiatives, projects, meetings and official documents related to the grouping.
