What is the story about?
The White House has said that US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Friday, i.e., today, at 11 AM Eastern Time or 09:30 PM Indian Time.
This comes after Trump said that he would announce his selection for the new chairperson for the Federal Reserve on 'Friday morning'. The new selection will replace the current Fed chair, Jerome Powell, who has had a bitter relationship with the incumbent president.
In addition to that, the White House also announced that the president will participate in a policy meeting today at 2 PM Eastern Time/ 12:30 AM Indian Standard Time.
On Thursday, while speaking at the screening of the film "Melania," which is a documentary on about first lady Melania Trump, the president declared that the five-month search for his choice to replace current Chair Jerome Powell was almost over.
“I’ll be announcing the Fed chair tomorrow morning,” Trump said. Asked if he had actually settled on a choice, he replied, “I do, I better, otherwise I have to go to work very quickly.”
Executive orders have been the key feature of the second Trump administration, as the 47th US president has often tried to bypass the US legislature to push his policies through without any scrutiny from the US Congress.
