1981, when legendary actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh first made it their home. After Rishi Kapoor's passing, Ranbir undertook the ambitious project of demolishing the old structure and building a new one, with his mother's full blessing. The result is a home that carries decades of emotional memory while being entirely modern in its ambitions.

About Alia's New Home - Krishna Raj Bungalow

Once fully complete, this house is set to become the most expensive bungalow in Mumbai, surpassing even Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat and Amitabh Bachchan's Jalsa. The couple were closely involved throughout the years-long reconstruction. During an Instagram Live session, Ranbir revealed that a recent vacation had doubled as a house-shopping trip: "The vacation was great. It was like work-cum-vacation - as some of you guys know, I am shifting to my new house, so we had to do some house shopping." Speaking at an event in Dubai shortly after moving in, Alia described the moment warmly: "This visit comes from a very personal space as we have just moved into our new home in Mumbai." The bungalow features a dedicated room for Ranbir's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and her daughter Samara, in addition to the couple's private quarters.The mansion rises six floors and has been engineered to withstand moderate earthquakes, a rare structural feature in residential construction. Among the six floors, the ground and third floors have been designed as independent private villas. Ranbir's mother Neetu Kapoor has an entire floor dedicated exclusively to her, while Ranbir, Alia, and little Raha occupy another.

No expense was spared on the interiors. As per reports, sustom-made glass was imported from Italy to enhance the home's aesthetic, and select furniture pieces were also sourced from the country. Kitchen fittings and accessories, meanwhile, were imported from the Netherlands. For the terraces, exotic plants were brought in from Southeast Asian countries, giving the gardens a lush, resort-like feel.

The mansion houses not one but two large swimming pools - one on the couple's private floor and another on the rooftop. At the entrance stands a majestic four-foot Ganesha idol placed on a 2.5-foot pedestal. Life Before Krishna Raj

Before moving into Krishna Raj, Alia had made her own mark on Mumbai's real estate scene. In November 2020, she purchased a 2,460 sq ft apartment on the fifth floor of the Vastu building in Pali Hill for approximately Rs 32 million - an apartment whose interiors were designed by none other than Gauri Khan. She also owns a luxury pad in London's Covent Garden, a city she has long considered a second home.
