Jeffrey Epstein took many secrets to the grave with his death. The convicted paedophile and financier was found dead in a federal prison in New York. One relationship that puzzled everyone was his connection with Celina Dubin, the 24-year-old daughter of billionaire hedge fund manager Glenn Dubin and his wife, Dr Eva Andersson-Dubin, founder of the Dubin Breast Center at the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Center.Eva, a former Miss Sweden, had once dated Epstein before her marriage in 1994. She had three children, one of whom was Celina, who grew up knowing Epstein as a close family friend. According to reports, Epstein once told associates that if he were ever to marry, it would be to the then 19-year-old Celina, who also used
to call him “Uncle Jeff”.
It is as unsettling as it sounds. By the time Celina was 12, he had become a father figure to her. Yet he was reportedly quite open about discussing his desire to marry the teenage daughter of his former girlfriend. According to the YouTube channel Rumour Juice, his reasoning was “mostly about dodging inheritance taxes by transferring his wealth to someone close”.But is this the true story? Given his history as a convicted paedophile, it is difficult to take such explanations at face value. In 2014,Epstein reportedly made Celina the beneficiary of a trust and, according to Business Insider, his intent appears to have been financial. Epstein told associates that he wanted her to inherit his fortune, including his private island in the Caribbean. It is also said that she was removed from the trust in 2015, though her parents claim they were never aware of such an arrangement. The trust was reportedly worth USD 50 million, and whether she ever received anything remains unclear. The continued trust placed in Epstein by her parents is also striking. In 2008, after Epstein was convicted of soliciting sex from minors, they remained in touch with him. They even said they were “100% comfortable” with Epstein spending time with their daughters, and Celina was 14 at the time. Epstein even attended their Thanksgiving dinner a year after his release.According to Business Insider, “Epstein told associates he was at the hospital when Eva Andersson-Dubin gave birth to Celina,” a source close to Epstein said. That person added that the financier described Celina Dubin as his sole heir, telling others that the young woman was “the only one who never failed him”.He would invite her to his parties, and there were small details that suggested her importance in his life. For instance, his Spotify account included a 2011 playlist called “celina”, largely featuring music from DJ David Guetta. In a series of emails exchanged with author Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York and the ex-wife of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, he wrote to her on 1 July 2010 saying that his goddaughter Celina would be in London that week and asked whether there was any chance of her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, then aged 21 and 20, “saying hello” (sic).
