Imagine a five-year-old child talking about the existence of a wife and his two sons. It is a case of reincarnation, a phenomenon that defies understanding and science. This is the story of Titu Singh
Toran, who claimed to be a man named Suresh Verma, who had been killed by a bullet when two people opened fire on him.Born to Mahavir Prasad and Shanthi, Titu refused to accept them as his parents. He claimed to own a radio shop in Agra and, ever since he could talk, insisted that he was the man who had been murdered there. He even spoke about being cremated and said his ashes had been thrown into a river.Titu lived in a village called Badh, around 13 kilometres from Agra. When tensions at home grew due to Titu refusing to accept his family, his elder brother Ashok travelled to Agra. There, he found Suresh’s radio shop on Mall Road. According to reports, the shop’s salesman confirmed that it had been owned by Verma, who had been shot dead five years earlier, and that he had a wife named Uma and two sons. When Uma heard about Titu's claim, she was curious and decided to visit him. She travelled with Verma's parents, Chanda Bahu Bhartiya and Burfi Devi, and his three brothers.Read:A Mysterious Reincarnation Case from India: When Sumitra Died and Returned as ShivaTitu was outside when he spotted them. He reportedly recognised them and shouted to his parents that his "other family" had come. Even at just five years old, he asked Uma to sit next to him. He inquired about his children and shocked Uma by speaking about their last outing to a "mela" (fair) in a neighbouring village, giving her intimate details from it.When he was taken to Agra, he recognised the shop and even pointed out all the changes that had been made to it after his death.According to a report published in India Today by Raj Chengappa in 1988, "More startling evidence came when parapsychological researchers, Dr N.K. Chadha of Delhi University and Dr Entonia Mills of the University of Virginia, USA, began making a detailed investigation of Titu's case. Among the things they corroborated was a curious dent on Titu's right temple. They checked the autopsy report of Suresh Verma and found that the bullet's entry point corresponded with Titu's birthmark." The report also stated, "Even more eerie was that the autopsy report showed that the bullet had ricocheted from the skull and passed out below the right ear. When they looked below Titu's ear, sure enough, there was a starburst-like birthmark."Read: The Marathi Author Who Had Recurring Memories of a Past Life Lived 150 Years AgoBut was this a case of reincarnation?
