Epstein Files have revealed the names of several high-profile figures who were in contact with convicted sex offender and paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Among them is wellness guru and author Deepak Chopra. Chopra’s name appears repeatedly in the latest tranche of documents linked to Epstein. The files suggest regular correspondence between the two from roughly 2016 to 2019, well after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.Chopra, a doctor and self-help figure born in New Delhi, rose to prominence in the 1990s and has often credited his wife, Rita Chopra, for his success. Who is Rita Chopra?
Chopra met his wife when they were at school. A student of St. Columba's School, he once recalled how a girl he vaguely knew, who studied at Convent of Jesus & Mary School, offered him a lift during the rain. She would eventually become his wife.He later shared photographs from the school and wrote, “I’m enjoying my time here in India, visiting the Convent of Jesus and Mary, a school in New Delhi. This is where I met my wife, Rita.”
While he was a medical trainee at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rita would visit her aunt, who was admitted to the hospital. According to reports, he said, “I would make up excuses to see the patient, but actually go to meet Rita. I had a Lambretta scooter then and took her out for beer. After finishing school, I went to Sri Lanka and bought an opal for Rita. On my return, I gave it to her and asked her to marry me. She accepted, and we were married on 8 February 1970.”They have two children, a daughter, Mallika Chopra, and a son, Gotham Chopra. Rita has largely stayed out of the limelight.
