One triggered a global #MeToo movement where women began speaking about abuse in the workplace. The other exposed the terrifying ease with which sexual crimes, trafficking and the exploitation of minors can exist in plain sight. Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein ignited different storms but the patterns beneath them were disturbingly similar. Both men were protected for years by power, wealth and proximity to influential networks. Both reduced women and in Epstein’s case, young girls to commodities. And both thrived in ecosystems where silence was rewarded, whistleblowers were discredited and access mattered more than accountability. It’s hard not to notice the similarity in their names too. Both first names end with 'ey,' and both surnames
end with 'stein.' Digging into name origins, Weinstein is a Jewish (Ashkenazic) surname derived from German Wein (meaning wine) and Stein (meaning stone). Epstein is also a German and Jewish (Ashkenazic) surname, a habitational name from places like Eppstein in Germany, rooted in Old High German ebur (wild boar) and stein (stone). Stone, again.
To understand whether this overlap means anything at all, we spoke to experts in their sound and name interpretation.Siddharrth S. Kumaar, Chief Astrologer, NumroVani, explains that the similarity between Harvey and Jeffrey isn’t cosmetic, it’s structural. From a phonetic numerology and pronology standpoint, the 'ee/ey' ending carries a vibration of detachment and emotional distance. "This sound doesn’t project force, it withdraws it. The person observes, assesses, disarms. It lowers resistance before acting. Guilt doesn’t register on time, which makes repetition easy. That’s a critical trait in non-violent predation where access matters more than aggression."He adds that when this sound is paired with 'stein,' which phonetically sits close to 'stain,' the personality becomes even more chilling. Stein is a system sound which is administrative, procedural, coldly intelligent. It controls through access rather than force. When observation merges with system authority, the result is detached exploitation which is quiet and repeatable. "That’s how both Epstein and Weinstein operated for years without appearing overtly threatening.”Tarot reader Pooja Verma offers a different take. While acknowledging the shared stein, she believes the name alone isn’t causal. "Stein means stone or mountain, representing someone who is overly practical, emotionally rigid, like patthar (stone). They both didn’t care about emotions. But exploitation doesn’t happen because of a name. It happens because of mindset, upbringing, planetary placements, and personal choices. Many German surnames have ‘stein.’ What matters is mentality.”And that distinction is important. Names don’t create predators. But silence, power, money, and unchecked access allow them to thrive.
