The domestic carrier has cautioned that the low-visibility conditions could slow down aircraft movements, leading to delays or minor schedule adjustments in the interest of passenger safety. "Airport and airline teams have been placed on alert and are working in close coordination to manage flight schedules, assist passengers, and ensure smooth operations despite the challenging weather," it said in a statement on X.
At least 10 flights were cancelled from Delhi today due to low visibility, said Indira Gandhi International Airport authorities.
It added that the foggy conditions are also likely to impact road traffic, with slower movement and longer travel times expected for passengers commuting to airports. Travellers scheduled for early-morning departures have been advised to plan their journeys with additional buffer time.
The airline has asked passengers to check the latest flight status on the airline’s website or mobile application before leaving home to avoid inconvenience.
Visibility is expected to gradually improve as the day progresses. The airlines thanked passengers for their patience and continued cooperation as operations continue under low-visibility conditions.
On December 15, dense fog disrupted flight operations at Delhi Airport with various airlines cancelling 228 flights and diverting five to nearby airports due to low visibility. "As many as 228 flights -- 131 departures and 97 arrivals-- have been cancelled due to low visibility, so far," the airport official had said.
Delhi airport is the country's busiest, handling around 1,300 flight movements daily.
