What is the story about?
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has issued a passenger advisory about a scheduled calibration of its Instrument Landing System (ILS). The flight operations will be regulated during the maintenance window, the authorities said, urging travellers to check with their respective airlines for any schedule changes.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Delhi Airport said, "The mandatory flight calibration of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) will take place at IGIA tomorrow from 11:30 to 13:30 IST, as part of continuous safety practices. Flights will be regulated during this period, and some schedules may be impacted. Kindly coordinate with your airlines to get updated flight information."
The advisory, though routine in nature, came hours before theRed Fort blast, which later triggered a security lockdown across Delhi. Following the explosion, security agencies placed the national capital on high alert, with special emphasis on sensitive installations including the airport, Metro, and major railway stations in the NCR.
Officials said additional checks and surveillance measures were immediately implemented at IGI Airport as part of precautionary steps, given the heightened threat perception, India Today reported. Passengers arriving and departing from Delhi were advised to reach the airport well in advance due to the possibility of delays amid enhanced security and technical regulation of flights.
