What is the story about?
India has taken a significant step towards boosting business ties with China by introducing the e-Production Investment Business Visa, also known as the e-B-4 Visa, specifically for Chinese businessmen.
This visa allows them to travel to India for specific business activities, including installation and commissioning of equipment, quality checks, and essential maintenance.
This visa can be applied for online without visiting the embassy or agents, as per a latest advisory on the Indian Embassy website, reported PTI.
The introduction of the e-B-4 Visa was in response to the increasing demand for business visas to travel to India. The e-B-4 Visa has a processing time of 45-50 days, allowing the holder to stay in India for up to six months.
According to the advisory, the visa can be used for installation and commissioning, quality control and essential maintenance, production, IT and ERP ramp-up, training, supply chain development for employing suppliers, plant design and bring-up, senior management, and executives.
To apply, Chinese nationals can submit their applications online, along with mandatory supporting documents, on the portal https://indianvisaonline.gov.in under the tab 'For e-Visa by Bureau of Immigration'.
Indian companies interested in inviting Chinese citizens can also apply on behalf of Chinese nationals by registering on DPIIT's NSWS (National Single Window System) portal at https://www.nsws.gov.in/ under the tab ‘Login-Business User Login’.
This move is part of several people-centric steps agreed upon by both countries to reset their relations.
