What is the story about?
MakeMyTrip has introduced an Early Check-In and Late Check-Out feature across more than 10,000 hotels, villas and homestays in India, and over 1,000 properties in 20 international destinations.
The feature allows travellers to pre-book early check-in or late check-out slots in three-, six- or nine-hour windows at the time of booking. According to the company, the system is designed to replace on-arrival requests with confirmed, pre-booked time extensions.
MakeMyTrip said the offering is intended to address situations where travellers arrive early in the day following overnight travel or depart late in the evening, when standard hotel check-in and check-out times may not align with travel schedules.
The company cited internal booking data indicating that a significant share of travellers arrive at destinations before standard check-in times or depart after standard check-out hours, particularly on both domestic and international routes.
In international markets, MakeMyTrip said similar patterns are observed on short-haul routes such as Singapore, Bangkok and Hanoi, as well as long-haul destinations including New York, where early arrivals are common while standard hotel check-in times typically remain between 2 pm and 3 pm.
To address this, the platform will also recommend early check-in or late check-out options during the booking process based on a traveller’s flight, train or bus schedule, according to the company. It said the feature is intended to provide confirmed room access in advance and improve utilisation of hotel inventory.
Abhishek Logani, Chief Business Officer – Hotels at MakeMyTrip, said flexibility and confirmed access are increasingly influencing booking decisions, alongside price and location. He added that the response from hotel partners has been positive and that the company plans to expand the feature to additional properties and markets.
MakeMyTrip said the feature is available across partnered properties in India and select international destinations, including Dubai, Bangkok, Pattaya, Bali and Kuala Lumpur.
