Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are making a strong pitch to position themselves as premier tourism hubs in India, unveiling ambitious plans and showcasing recent investments in the sector during separate events on World Tourism Day.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, revealed that the state attracted ₹10,600 crore in investments for tourism-related projects and emphasised the sector's growing significance. Naidu said approvals and incentives are being fast-tracked under the state's "speed of doing business" programme.
“Andhra Pradesh received ₹10,600 crore investments in the tourism sector. Ten thousand homestays will be available at Araku, Paderu, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Rayalaseema and other regions," he stated. He outlined plans to add 50,000 hotel rooms over the next three years and set up cultural experience centres that showcase the state's heritage.

The chief minister highlighted a renewed focus on temple tourism, eco-tourism, and proposed the development of wedding destinations in key spiritual centres such as Tirumala and Annavaram. He added that the tourism sector would play a vital role in realising the vision of 'Swarna Andhra' (Golden Andhra), a transformative goal for the state's economy.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Telangana, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy used the ‘Tourism Conclave 2025’ to promote the state as a safe, investor-friendly destination with a diverse tourism offering. He announced the rollout of a new tourism policy aimed at attracting domestic and international investors.
"My focus is to attract investments not only in IT and Pharma but also in tourism. Telangana means business. Your investments are safe. You are going to make profits. This is my assurance," Reddy said during the event. He highlighted Hyderabad's growing reputation as a healthcare and medical tourism hub, with several super-speciality hospitals in the city.

Highlighting safety in Telangana was important in the state's tourism appeal, Reddy pointed out the successful hosting of the Miss World pageant in Hyderabad as something that brought the state on the global tourism map.
