Sources from air traffic control (ATC) told CNBC-TV18 that there have been nine go-arounds and one diversion at Mumbai airport since morning on August 18 due to extreme rainfall across the city.
An IndiGo flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai was diverted to Surat, they said.

Airlines issue advisories
Several Indian airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air issued passenger advisories on Monday, August 18, due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai.

IndiGo airlines issued travel advisory for passengers urging them to leave early from home if they have to catch a flight from the Mumbai Airport.

Airline company Akasa Air also issued a travel advisory for its passengers in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa and Pune due to heavy rainfall.
