In a statement released on August 5, the airline confirmed that it will begin phased operations from new airports currently under development in Bihta, Birpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul and Valmiki Nagar. The airline also revealed plans for international expansion in its second phase. These include direct flights from Muzaffarpur to Kathmandu and Janakpur, from Birpur to Rajbiraj and Biratnagar, from Valmiki Nagar to Kathmandu and Bhairahawa, and from
Calling the initiative a strategic step towards inclusive air travel, Spirit Air said the plan supports the Government of India’s vision to make aviation accessible to the common citizen and stimulate economic growth in underserved regions.
The airline will operate a versatile fleet for these routes, including the Islander BN2T-4S-STOL aircraft, known for its ability to handle passenger, cargo and medevac services, and the King Air 250, which offers pressurised cabins and multi-mission capabilities.

The operational rollout follows the Bihar Cabinet’s recent approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between the state’s Directorate of Aviation and the Airports Authority of India. The MoU paves the way for the development of six airports in Madhubani, Birpur (Supaul), Munger, Valmiki Nagar (Bettiah), Muzaffarpur and Saharsa. A total of ₹150 crore has been allocated for the project, with ₹25 crore earmarked for each airport.
