While travellers can still find affordable flights to Dubai tomorrow, securing a return ticket is proving to be a costly affair, with prices for Economy
class skyrocketing on major airlines. Dubai Airport, the world’s busiest for international traffic, suspended operations on Saturday, 7 March 2026. It later confirmed on X via its official handle @DXB: "We have partially resumed operations from today, 7 March, with some flights operating out of DXB and DWC. Please do not travel to the airport unless you have been contacted by your airline to confirm your flight, as schedules continue to change." Emirates also issued a statement regarding the resumption of operations. Its planes had avoided the airspace over the United Arab Emirates in the early hours of Saturday after the country intercepted projectiles and experienced a “minor incident” resulting from debris. The airline said: "Emirates has resumed operations. Passengers with confirmed bookings for this afternoon’s flights may proceed to the airport. This includes customers transiting in Dubai if their connecting flight is also operating." It added: "Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly." We attempted to book return tickets from Delhi to Dubai. The outbound flight on 8 March had Economy class seats on Emirates priced at ₹54,839. However, return tickets on 10 March were far more expensive, with Economy often sold out and only First Class available at ₹1,82,344. On Indigo, the cheapest flights to Dubai were around ₹16,000, though prices fluctuated at the time of publishing this story. Return flights from Dubai were not available, and all flights from Abu Dhabi International Airport appeared sold out. Air India offered tickets at ₹14,684 for the outbound journey from Delhi to Dubai. But Economy seats for the return from Dubai were unavailable. Business Class seats were available for ₹1,14,473. Travellers looking for last-minute trips to Dubai should be aware: while outbound flights remain affordable, return tickets are often sold out or come at a significantly higher cost.
