According to the International Workplace Group’s (IWG) annual Work From Anywhere Barometer, Mumbai has been crowned as one of the best Asian cities for
workcations. Mumbai scored 73 out of 120, showcasing its robust infrastructure and vibrant cultural offerings. Tokyo topped the global list. For the unversed, The IWG is a British company renowned for providing flexible workspace solutions, evaluates cities based on twelve criteria. These include broadband speed, climate, availability of flexible workspaces, and proximity to leisure activities. Mumbai stands out not only for its work-friendly environment but also for its iconic attractions. The city features landmarks such as Marine Drive, known as the ‘Queen’s Necklace,’ and a rich culinary scene that appeals to both residents and visitors. Its cultural vibrancy and urban experiences further enhance its status as a desirable workcation destination. In the global context, Tokyo secured the top position, scoring 91 out of 120. Other cities in the top ten include Rio de Janeiro, Budapest, and Seoul, reflecting a mix of cultural richness and modern amenities. Mumbai's inclusion among these leading cities underscores the increasing trend of remote work and the demand for suitable workcation locations. The research conducted by IWG indicates a significant shift in employee preferences, with 78% considering a ‘work from anywhere’ policy crucial when searching for new job opportunities. Furthermore, 87% of respondents believe that remote work enhances productivity and work-life balance. This trend supports the growing acceptance of flexible working arrangements in urban centres like Mumbai.

Mark Dixon, founder and CEO of IWG, commented on the evolving landscape of work, stating, "We’re seeing more workers than ever extending their trips to work remotely or choosing to spend longer periods abroad as digital nomads."
