What is the story about?
With options for days and wildly different vibes pulling your heart and feet in different directions, figuring out a saturated space like Bangkok well
enough to get your money's worth, isn't a novice's job. That's where lifestyle influencer Tarini Manchanda steps in, curating a list of top recommendations curated over three trips to this city that never sleeps, in the last 2 years.
If you want Bangkok to be a food trip...
Vertigo, Seen, Nobu and Oja top Manchanda's list when it comes to scenic rooftops allowing a bird's eye view of the city. For proper dining and vibes that don't fail, Yankii Robatayaki & Bar is a great option for its karaoke bar as is Fatboy for its Japanese food and Y2K music. While Rabbit Hole is a speakeasy, Lost and Found is more of a bar cum club. Manchanda also affirms Zuma as "always a good time" - a tall recommendation coming from her. Kick the hangover to the curb with a sumptious and wholesome breakfast at Kay's Cafe, Sarnies Roastery or Mocha and Muffins. For dining through the day, standalone Thai food places get a special slide on Manchanda's list. Sri Trat tops the list with , Paii offering great food in a heritage mansion. Nham may not have the vibes but the plates never fail while Nara Thai is a spot you can always depend on. For your food court laps, Kub Khao Kub Pla, Din Tai Fung, Spicy Busaba and Ippudo never disappoint.
Shopping spree!
Manchanda pitches Songwat as "a fun street to explore" with special emphasis on visits to Oysters and Things, Garcon Department and Road of Cinnamon. She also recommends Central (a department store chain) for the Thai brands it stocks, particularly for comfortable shoes. Kiosk shopping is big in Bangkok, as is demonstrated by her other recommendations including the Platinum Mall which is a lot like a warehouse sale and the Chatuchak which is an outdoor market. As far as luxury shopping goes, Manchanda warns that though the VAT is 5%, the final bill tends to be more expensive. And after all the hard work of a tourist, unwind at one of Manchanda's spa recommendations. Anantara Siam is at the top of her list followed by the spa at The Avani Hotel. Lek has several outlets over the city while Thai Thai Massage is open till late. Finally, Chao9 is both cheap and good.
